THINK AORTA in your country:
THINK AORTA and save a life
Aortic Dissection is a time-critical, life threatening disease that affects around 6 in 100,000 people. Untreated, it is usually fatal. Mortality for patients with acute Type A Aortic Dissection is 1% an hour and 48% of patients do not make it to hospital alive. Research has also shown that a diagnosis of Aortic Dissection is considered in less than half of patients who arrive at the ED with the condition and that one-third of patients with Aortic Dissection are actively treated for a different, incorrect diagnosis. The THINK AORTA campaign aims to raise awareness and improve diagnosis of Aortic Dissection worldwide.
Who We Are and What We Do
Think Aorta is a global campaign focused on the problem of misdiagnosis and delay in acute Aortic Dissection. It was created and is led by Aortic Dissection Awareness UK & Ireland. Think Aorta provides free, accredited learning resources for Emergency Medicine and Radiology teams and for First Responders, improving their ability to spot a time-critical, life-threatening Aortic Dissection and take appropriate action. Think Aorta is saving lives around the world and is endorsed by the leading medical professional bodies in all of the countries where we are active.
